The Bailie Kids
Pictured here are Tom Bailie, Helen Bailie and Cleta Bailie. This was taken in Wheatley Studios in DuQuoin Illinois about 1890. A fourth sibling joined them later, Winnie Bailie.
Many new spellings of this name have shown up in later documents, the most common being Bailey.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for posting that amazing photo of the Bailies. Cleta was my paternal grandmother. As you know, she married John Edward Howell in DuQuion and had four children, the oldest being my father John "Jack" Howell whose only child I am. The last of Cleta and John's surviving children, my Aunt Winifred "Mickey" Pitt just passed away last year. I've recently been going through some old family papers and have been trying to make some sense out of them. That's how I found your site, during an attempt to research a large oval photograph of Bridget McCarty Bailie. I assume she's Cleta's mother, but since Dad passed on (6/6/86) long before I caught the genealogy bug I can only guess. I'd be happy to email the scanned photo to you. Just let me know where to send it.
